Heavy Diesel Mechanic

We are looking for a Heavy Diesel Mechanic who is either trade-qualified or has significant relevant experience to work on a variety of hire plant.

It's a busy role with a fluctuating schedule of work so no two days are the same - it's a great opportunity to share your expert knowledge as well as develop new skills with our wide range of hire equipment. There's always a lot going on in the branch so you need to be prepared to help out your team with whatever gets the job done.

What you'll do:

  • Repair and maintenance of a wide variety of branch hire equipment, including: excavators, diggers, loaders etc.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to branch colleagues and customers
  • Attend breakdowns as required

Job Details:

Ideally, we want to recruit suitable and available NZ workers. However, if we are unable to make such an appointment, we are an Accredited Employer with Immigration NZ (INZ) and would therefore be able to consider candidates who require a work visa. In line with our obligations under the job check process, the following information is provided:

  • 1 x Heavy Diesel Mechanic (321212) in Palmerston North
  • The role is permanent full-time position working 40hrs per week (min/max)
  • Work will be allocated on a rostered basis - the branch is open Monday - Saturday
  • $38ph - $42ph based on the following:
    • Skills - experience working with machinery (specifically: diagnosis, repair and maintenance), a full driver licence, and basic computer skills
    • Qualification - ideally a relevant trade qualification (e.g. machinery, engineering etc.)
    • Experience - at least 3yrs working with a variety of product types (e.g. petrol, diesel, small and heavy etc.)
