Field Service Generation Technician

At our Power and Lighting division we maintain and repair a wide variety of generation, distribution, and lighting equipment and we're currently looking for a Field Service Generation Technician to join the team. You need to be skilled at working with a wide variety of diesel generators, light towers, and power distribution equipment both single and 3-phase. The successful candidate will operate out of our specialist power generation branch but will work closely with our main workshop and provide support to the upper North Island both remotely, and in person as required. What you'll do:

  • Onsite and in-branch repair and maintenance of our generation and light tower fleet
  • Repair and test generation and distribution equipment in accordance with the relevant regulations/standards
  • Provide expert assistance to colleagues and customers in branch and on the phone
  • Travel to other regions as required to assist with testing and repair of equipment
  • Set-up and installation of equipment on customer sites
  • Attend after hours breakdowns as required

What you will need:

  • A valid Electrical Service Technician qualification (or higher) and current EWRB registration
  • Significant experience in the generation or equivalent sector including specific experience with diesel engines
  • Strong diagnostic processes and the ability to read complex wiring diagrams
  • Full Driver Licence (other classes and Endorsements an advantage)
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information
  • A relevant mechanical qualification would be highly advantageous but is not essential
