Hirepool was established in 1955 and has grown to become the national leader in the NZ hire industry, with 70 branches spanning from the top of the North to the depths of the South. Our hire fleet ranges from general hire items, the likes of lawnmowers to 30-tonne excavators, portable toilets to 40metre marquees, cars to 10-tonne trucks. Our customer base is as diverse as our fleet which means our team liaise with everyone from the big names in infrastructure and construction to independent contractors and DIY-ers. We are a growth orientated business with a clear vision, supported by a team of 700 committed industry enthusiasts.

But what does that mean for you and this role?

The position of Southern (South Island) Regional Manager has overall leadership responsibility for our large branch network in the South Island, a network of 20 branches, including general hire, specialist access, earthmoving, and power and lighting branches, from Nelson to Invercargill. Leading an established Hub and Branch Management team you are accountable to ensure the achievement of budgeted revenue, margin and fleet utilisation, manage R&M, whilst maintaining our relentless commitment to safe and reliable service delivery.

Leading the branch network, you will also be responsible for mentoring and managing an established sales team, led by a local Regional Sales Manager, furthermore, dedicated standalone workshops accountable for legislative compliance, servicing and the maintenance of a large and diverse fleet.

As a member of our Senior Management Team you will regularly draw from your proven commercial acumen and experience and as a result you will contribute strategically but will also be able to translate strategic objectives into meaningful business plans and operational directives for your direct reports and their teams.

Experience / exposure within the hire industry would be of great benefit but if you have worked in any of the industries we serve, we would be keen to hear what experience you could bring to this pivotal role. This position will involve regular travel to customers and our branches within the South Island. Travel to the Auckland National Support Office will also be required. This position has become available due to an internal promotion and we are looking for an early 2019 commencement date.
